Hello! I am a dual-qualified speech pathologist and registered teacher. In addition to my Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Teaching education qualifications, I hold a Master of Speech Pathology from Griffith University.
Prior to entering the speech pathology profession, I gained extensive experience as both a general classroom teacher in the primary grades and as a learning support teacher across all year levels Prep-12. I am able to use this knowledge and experience to liaise with educators and support staff in schools to promote effective differentiation at the classroom level, and to assist develop IEP and EAP goals and planning to ensure my clients with speech, language and literacy impairments are optimally supported.
My particular areas of interest are Developmental Language Disorder – DLD (formerly known as Specific Language Impairment – SLI) and literacy disorders. I have undertaken additional training, enabling me to offer specific, targeted support to clients with DLD and/or dyslexia. I have completed training in Sounds-Write, Talk For Writing and RAVE-O. Among my various ongoing professional development activities, I also commit to attending the biennial Literacy, Language and Learning conference to ensure my knowledge of current research is up-to date.
My Early Years clients benefit from my ability to facilitate play-based therapy for speech, early language development, fluency, social communication, feeding difficulties and children on the autism spectrum. I have undertaken additional training in Hanen ‘It Takes Two to Talk’ and PROMPT.
I foster strong relationships with both my clients and their families to assist them support their child’s speech, language and literacy development away from the clinic. I provide individual or group therapy sessions in my clinic and on several school campuses.
